Ancient Chinese secret
I’m always reluctant to tell people about one of the best kept secrets of Waukesha, the fantastic Chinese food at Golden Gate restaurant. On the one hand, everyone I have told about the place and has tried it have thanked me for the recommendation. On the other hand, if everyone finds out about it, will it become an overcrowded nightmare? Will we end up quoting Yogi Berra, “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.”
Still, it’s inevitable that some people will learn about it. Once again, Golden Gate was named one of the top 100 Chinese Restaurants in the country, the fifth year in a row. (ht: Spring City Chronicle) It’s not a fancy place, but it’s a nice place. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, and there’s a nice-sized bar, too. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even the kids’ meals are good, so don’t be afraid to bring the well-behaved rug rats.
I have my favorites for take-out, but picking a menu item at random has never failed, either.
Let’s just not tell those annoying people on the other side of 124th street. They won’t believe us if we tell them anyway.
