And now a note from Mayor Jeff Scrima


I have in my typewriter-calloused fingers an email sent by Mayor Jeff Scrima last November to a constituent (who asked to remain anonymous) regarding the possible closing of Main Street for Friday Night Live in Waukesha. I’ll skip the Scrima language and get right to the point:

I will also tell you for the record, after reviewing the street closing situation this last summer, that I do NOT believe Main Street should be closed, except for extreme situations. Closing smaller side streets, such as Gasper and Clinton, will be my recommendation in the future for Friday Night Lives and Art Crawls. Keeping Main Street open is critical as this is the main business artery and the easiest path for out-of-town visitors to navigate.
