One of the best things about pro-wrestling when I was growing up was watching Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. He was a one-of-a-kind gifted showman.

The BBC has a list of the top #100 comedy films of all time. Here are a few quick thoughts: I like Billy Wilder but there is no way Some Like It Hot should be ranked #1. I don’t even think it’s the #1 Billy Wilder film. Dr. Strangelove is arguably #1, with The Gold Rush […]

Across the street from where we were parked, there was an auto repair shop. The guys there were taking turns using the welding mask to look at the sun. At a table near us we saw a mom and her son using their eclipse glasses and sharing them with passersby.

Were the chains conveniently kept nearby in case the Night King decided he needed to pull something heavy? Or did he have to mail order them from Braavos?

We’re a big enough city, close enough to other population centers, that we don’t have to hire family members of the chief for the police department.

Spoke with Brian from the city garage. Apparently it’s his little project to tear up the intersection of Anoka and Greenfield Avenues. Burns definitely has the credentials as a leftwing Madison activist, and he’s […]

So yesterday I returned from running my afternoon errands and, as I pulled into my driveway, I observed another car park on the street in front of my house. So I sat by my car a few moments and watched three people get out of the other car armed with clip boards and wearing name […]

The city of Waukesha is so busy with road repairs, it doesn’t have time to notify neighborhoods when they’re going to tear up the street and run construction vehicles back and forth in front of our homes. This is the scene at the end of my block:   So Greenfield Avenue is now completely impassable […]

Well, we discovered why they’re reluctant to remove the “road closed ahead” signs on Perkins even though it’s open. The construction crew has it partially blocked and they have flag men out there deciding when you can cross Arcadian. Remember, this is the city’s recommended route. I figured out that something was wrong when another […]
