Because what’s election night without Kathy Nickolaus
It’s 1:00 AM. Do you know where your election results are? They’re taped up on the walls of the same room at the Waukesha County Courthouse where the Prosser/Kloppenburg recount took place. No, really.
I just checked the online update and there’s still a whole bunch of zeroes in the tallies, including the ward where I voted. Meanwhile Patch.com is reporting the situation between County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus got a little tense when the results weren’t coming out.
Now one of the rooms at the courthouse has some interesting new wallpaper. Reporters are looking at rolls of paper taped to the walls with the election results trying to add them by hand to figure out who won.
I think Nickolaus was kinder to journalists the time she threw them out of the clerk’s office.
Whatever else happened tonight, and there were a few things, at least we can finally dispense with any notion that Nickolaus is capable of rigging an election. Running one may be questionable, but rigging one is probably impossible.
It could have been worse. Tonight’s contest between Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum could have been close.
Something to think about, Nickolaus will probably lose the Republican primary for clerk in August. However, she’ll still have to finish her term, which means she’ll be in charge of the presidential election in Waukesha in November.
