Bobby “The Brain” Heenan 1944-2017

One of the best things about pro-wrestling when I was growing up was watching Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. He was a one-of-a-kind gifted showman. Had he gone into politics before President Donald Trump, Heenan might have beaten the billionaire to be the first pro-wrestling celebrity in the Oval Office.

Even funnier than his antics on the stage of professional wrestling were those moments when he was interviewed away from the ring. Somewhere out there I hope somebody has a recording of an interview Heenan did with Bob Uecker during a Milwaukee Brewers game, of all things. It was comedy gold.

On a political note, I found this on Wikipedia: “Heenan was honored by the Pro Wrestling Report at the annual Blizzard Brawl event on December 5, 2009 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as he was given their Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to this, The mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett, declared December 5, 2009 to be ‘Bobby Heenan Day.'”

RIP, Brain, and thanks for all the laughs.
