Cruz scores touchdown with endorsements

26

Texas Senator Ted Cruz won a fun endorsement today that will score big in Packerland, former Green Bay Packers defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (KGB). From the press release:

“Ted Cruz is a man of his word,” said Gbaja-Biamila. “Everything he says he would do, he has done. He fears God, he understands the fact that this country was founded through the inspiration of the Word of God. Senator Cruz wants to serve the people; he understands the times that we are in. This man memorized the Constitution when he was 13 years old; he believes in it so much that he is willing to fight for it. Ted is a doer, not a talker. He approaches the issues of our time with the same intensity that I brought to the football field. I passionately support Ted for president of the United States.”

“I am honored to have the support of a beloved hero to Green Bay and Packers fans everywhere, KGB,” said Cruz. “He was a leader on the gridiron and has continued that leadership off the field as a father, husband, and Deacon at Living Hope Church in Green Bay.”

Gbaja-Biamila, who was selected number 149 in the 2000 NFL draft, developed into the franchise’s all-time sack leader during his nine years in Green Bay.

KGB and his wife, Eileen, continue to live in Green Bay where they are raising their seven children. Gbaja-Biamila is a Deacon at Living Hope Church in Green Bay and devotes much of his time as a board member of Providence Academy. He also serves on the Salt and Light Committee, an organization that endeavors to reach the body of Christ in order to impact the nation through the education of America’s Christian heritage.

Cruz also earned the support of Assembly Speaker Robin Vos today. Vos gave his endorsement while speaking to WTMJ’s Charlie Sykes:

“For me, the most important criteria – and that’s why I supported Marco Rubio so strongly – I want a candidate that can actually do two things,” said the Assembly speaker. “Number one, win the Republican primary by standing up for conservative values, and then go on to and taking those values and beating Hillary Clinton.”

“And to me,” said Vos,” there’s only one candidate in the race who can do both. Rallying conservatives to his cause, but then also making certain that Hillary Clinton never gets to the White House, and that’s Ted Cruz. So I’ve decided I’m going to support Ted Cruz, I’m going to encourage everybody that I know to do the same. Especially those involved in Marco Rubio’s effort.”

Conservative Republican State Rep Joe Sanfelippo, who represents a sizable part of Waukesha County, also endorsed Cruz today in a press release:

“While there was a crowded pack of candidates in the beginning of the presidential race and it was hard to make a decision on who to support, I now believe the choice is clear and the cream of the crop is rising to the top.

“I believe Senator Cruz is the best choice to lead our country forward. Senator Cruz is committed to putting the interests of all Americans ahead of political gamesmanship and special interests.

“Senator Cruz has proven he has the intellect, resolve and honesty that it takes to be a successful leader. I will be proud to cast my vote to make him our next Commander-in-Chief,” Sanfelippo said.
