I’m a proud virtual school parent
It’s nice to see my latest column for RightWisconsin getting some positive attention since it’s so personal to me. In the column I explain a little bit about virtual schools, why it is not homeschooling, and why school choice is so important for parents. It’s school choice week, and every parent’s choice of school for their children should be celebrated. I concluded my column with this thought:
No, a virtual school isn’t for everyone. Years ago when I began writing about school choice and virtual schools, I certainly never thought my son would be an online student. A traditional public education was good enough for me, and Waukesha has good schools – both public and private. Fortunately, one of them is an online public charter school. But as every kid is different, parents need different educational choices. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for education. That is the real story of school choice, and it’s how I became a proud online school parent.
