Remember when it was only the Third World dictators that came to to United State seeking medical treatment?

3

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams is coming to the United States for a heart operation. I notice he isn’t going to Cuba or Great Britain for their wonderful universal health care. Could it be that government-run health care is not all that it’s promised to be?

I hope the students in Canada don’t riot and seize our consulate in that province.

The fact that individuals come here for intricate procedures on occasion has nothing to do with the desire to allow all individuals access to health care. It says two things: Some of the finest doctors in the world are raised right here in the United States, and the correct response to your question about universal health care is why are you posing such an intellectually bankrupt question? I expect it of Fred Dooley and Owen Robinson, but hardly you.

The answer is a question: why are some of the finest doctors in the world raised (or migrate) here rather than elsewhere where universal government-provided care is the norm?

Because they can make more money … which is the problem with today’s system. Your health should not be dictated by whether you can pay or not.
