Looks like I missed a successful charity walk for breast cancer at the art crawl on Saturday. Not only did I miss the doughnuts but I missed hot Italian beef sandwiches as well. Maybe next year.
George also passes along the news that Scrima’s pizza is threatening to make a return. I’m [...]

A sign of the recession:
A Milwaukee man is accused of robbing at least three banks and making off with about $17,000.
Thirty-five-year-old Roberto Ruiz was charged Saturday with three felony counts of robbing a financial institution. A judge set his cash bond Sunday at $100,000.
Three banks and all he got was $17,000? Do they [...]

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel headline tells us, “Gun used to shoot police officer was purchased in parking lot, complaint says.” And of course, we are supposed to be outraged that such a thing could happen, that a gun that would be used against a police officer was purchased in a parking lot.
However, we learn [...]

What would be the appropriate penalty for this crime?
“I don’t recall a time where we recovered this many snow blowers,” Capt. Michael Young said.
Police said one person would break into a residential garage, steal a snow blower and then sell it to another person for $50. That person would then sell it to another [...]

I think robbing someone while they are shoveling snow is about one of the lowest crimes someone can commit. To make people afraid to shovel their own walkways is an offense against an entire neighborhood.
I’m sometimes accused of being a softy on crime, but if these crooks got whacked with a shovel two or [...]

Bizarrely, the state Department of Corrections is not allowing a non-profit organization to send books to prisoners, citing security reasons. They’re afraid contraband might be smuggled with the books.
The way the program works is that people donate the books, the prisoners request books, and the books are mailed to the prisoners. The group [...]

What do you do with a 13-year-old who sexually assaults other children?
