I’ve been too ill recently to watch too much news, so I completely missed the coverage of Glenn Beck’s rally on the Washington Mall. Fortunately, Robert Costa of National Review was among the 100,000 to 300,000 people in attendance.
In a surprise appearance at the FreedomWorks conference in Washington on Friday, Beck had explained why [...]

Most of us are familiar enough with US Senate candidate Ron Johnson’s biography to know that he’s a successful businessman who helped make Pacur into a thriving plastics company in Wisconsin. Unfortunately the scorn of the political left knows no bounds, and they’re even accusing Johnson of marrying into his fortune (never mind the [...]

Even when it’s his home-away-from-home.

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and…
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it’s louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten. You see, most blokes, you [...]

Next Friday the Lovely Doreen from Waukesha and I are driving through Southwestern Wisconsin on our way to Galena for a few days. I’m looking for lunch suggestions both there and back. Our phone lines are open.

Father-son outing creates memories, mosquito bites
I’m a city boy. I admit it. When someone says to me, “Let’s go camping,” I immediately think of the movie “Deliverance.”
It may surprise some of you that my son is a Cub Scout. The trick to keeping your [...]

Took the kids downtown Sunday to see Waukesha’s Independence Day parade. Got a great spot. I’d tell you where but I might use it again next year. You’ll just have to guess from the photos.

Give the mayor credit. That’s a healthy walk, especially when it’s hot out. (Yes, he saw [...]

Another vacation in the Wisconsin Dells, with a brief stop in Madison, is over.  Who in my family will ever forget driving around the Capitol with me saying, “Look kids! The Capitol, hippie protestor, veterans administration, historical society, there’s another look at the Capitol, a hippie protestor, veterans, historical society, Capitol…”
It was a nice visit [...]
