William Safire, Nixon speechwriter and New York Times columnist, passed away Sunday. He was 79.
Safire had a wonderful way of turning a phrase, aided by his incredible vocabulary and his sense of humor. It was Safire who created the phrase for Vice President Spiro Agnew, “nattering nabobs of negativism.” Clinton fans probably never forgave him [...]

“Go kiss a whore, Bill. Happy f—ing Valentine’s Day.”

A small buzz is growing about the unconstitutionality of picking Senator Clinton to become Secretary of State. Unfortunately for the senator, congress voted for a pay raise for the cabinet office, and the constitution expressly forbids a member of the legislative branch from taking the office after they vote on the pay raise.

The latest nationwide survey, begun Friday afternoon after the McCain announcement of Palin as running mate and completed mid-afternoon today, shows McCain/Palin at 47%, compared to 45% support for Obama/Biden.In other words, the race is a dead heat. The interactive online Zogby survey shows that both Obama and McCain have [...]

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton:
“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain. While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”
