We’re winding down on conviction number four for State Representative Jeff Wood and the prosecutors are offering a plea deal. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said the details are not known yet.
By the way, Wood finally got around to filing his non-candidacy on Thursday. Good riddance, although his departure is much too long delayed [...]
State Representative Bill Kramer was in our neighborhood today doing doors. I missed him because the children were at swim lessons, but one of my shrewder neighbors was impressed with him.
Yes, I check on everyone who knocks on my door to see if they knocked on more than one door. I [...]
Without endorsing a candidate in the 44th Assembly District, it’s nice to see a candidate that actually lives among the people he would like to represent in Madison. Bill Truman, a member of the Janesville City Council, actually lives in the district. The incumbent, Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan, is living in an apartment outside his [...]
State Representative Jeff Wood will be released from jail tomorrow.
Sheriff’s Lt. Blaine Proue said Wood’s sentence was reduced by 11 days for good behavior and two days for time already served. Proue said releases usually are conducted between 6 and 8 a.m.
Wood still faces impaired driving charges in Marathon and Monroe counties.

State Representative Scott Newcomer announced today that he will not seek re-election (ht: Kevin Binversie). The distractions of his personal life and the presence of three respectable challengers must’ve finally been too much. Perhaps his constituents would have been more forgiving of his foibles had he been more visible in the district. [...]
State Representative Tom Nelson is running for Lieutenant Governor and seems anxious to prove mathematics is not a pre-requisite for the job.
First elected to the state Assembly in 2004, Nelson has worked hard for Northeast Wisconsin families. Representing the Fifth Assembly District, Nelson has handled more than 8,000 constituent cases, visited more than 80,000 families [...]
State Representative Mary Hubler (D-Rice Lake) announced that she is not running for re-election. In her press release, she listed a number of accomplishments but failed to mention how she provided cover for a five-time OWI so he could keep his seat in the State Assembly. Aren’t Democrats proud of their close association [...]
The always classy State Representative Jeff Wood on his way to jail paused to call a television reporter “a vulture” and “a moron.” (video)
Wood should stick to identifying Thunderbird.
Time to assess the carnage of the 2009-2010 legislative session, especially the end. It had very little good, a lot bad, and some really ugly moments, and show which was which over at the MacIver Institute.
With the close of the legislature also came the effective end of Governor Jim Doyle’s power in office. Doyle [...]
With the state legislature is meeting today for the final scheduled time this term (other than some mop up in May), I added two feeds to the side bar to help readers keep track of what’s going on: The MacIver Institute Twitter feed and the WisPolitics.com Quorum Call feed.
Speaking of the MacIver Institute, Brian Fraley [...]
