Let every vote half count
Proving Barack Obama will even talk with the Devil himself, a deal was cut that allowed Florida and Michigan to seat half their delegates.
Clinton was pushing to have the entire Michigan and Florida delegations seated, over Obama’s objections. The committee of 30 party activists worked all day on a compromise.
The compromise to give the two states’ delegates half-votes would raise the number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination from 2,026 to 2,118.
There were 368 delegates in limbo, 211 from Florida and 157 from Michigan.
Ickes: Clinton Reserves Right To Appeal
The decision concerning the delegates apparently isn’t sitting well with Clinton supporters.
Clinton’s chief delegate counter Harold Ickes said the New York senator has instructed him to reserve her right to appeal to the Democrats’ credentials committee. That could drag the matter out to the party’s convention in August.
They may not have folding chairs to sit on, but by Clinton they will have votes.
