Local Democratic ex-candidate is MIA
The 98th Assembly special election is without a Democratic candidate, and local Democratic Party cheerleader* Lisa Mux is trying to find out why.
Up until December 30, 2012, Eric was actively campaigning; the last post on his Eric Prudent for District 98 Facebook page still reads:
“As we bring in 2013, the Vote Prudent campaign will be hitting the ground hard now that the election date has been set. Don’t forget, we couldn’t do this without the support of people like you! I look forward to staying involved with all you next year, and thank you, thank you, thank you!”
However, when party leaders tried to connect with Prudent over the holidays, and to let him know that a date had been set for the spring primary, Prudent responded that he was on vacation and his “staff” would take care of things.
Fair enough. Except neither Prudent nor his “staff” turned in the required signatures to get on the ballot by the December 31, 2012 deadline. When pressed on the subject, I’m told that Prudent played dumb.
But one thing I know about Eric Prudent is that he is not dumb, far from it.
It seems that Eric Prudent ran away from his campaign and thought nobody would notice. In early January, even his parents didn’t know he wasn’t listed on the GAB website as a candidate and was therefore not a candidate.
Kids. What are you going to do?
In case you’re wondering, the absence of a Democratic candidate in this district just means that the odds of a Republican winning it remain the same at 100%.
* “This is a hard post to write, and I have been putting it off because I do not want to hurt Eric Prudent, and certainly not publicly.” Spare us.
