No more “I told you so” about Scrima
WISN-AM’s Mark Belling was again kind enough to mention me this afternoon on his radio program during the second hour (audio clip). Always nice to hear the kind words Belling has to say about my work for the Waukesha Freeman.
Sorry to hear that Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima was too busy to answer his phone when Belling called about the development by MSP in Waukesha. Waukesha Patch has the story from the proposals going before the planning commission:
A proposal from MSP Development Co. to rezone a vacant parcel of land along Meadow Lane, which is near Silvernail Road and North Grandview Boulevard, from temporary zoning to multi-family residential zoning is going before the Plan Commission at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 201 Delafield St. The entire parcel is 9.5 acres.
MSP Development Co. also is seeking preliminary plan approval for a 94-unit apartment building on 7.95 acres of the land. A 34-unit memory care facility being proposed by the same company is also going before the Plan Commission for preliminary plan approval.
MSP, as Belling points out, is the same developer that ended up suing New Berlin to force that community to accept a lower-income housing development in an area that was originally set aside for high-end development.
Since it was still on the Planning Commission’s agenda for this evening, I’m guessing that not everything is final and that it’s still up to the Common Council to grant approval. But I confess I haven’t been following this issue at all.
Anyway, always good to hear what Belling thinks of my Waukesha Freeman column work and I hope he has better success at getting honest answers from Scrima than Scrima’s constituents.
