Owen Robinson lets Wisconsin’s motorists down

Unfortunately, Robinson wasn’t alone.

According to a preliminary tally, 133,828 deer were taken over the first two days of the hunt, down from 171,584 in 2007. Buck harvest statewide was down 25 percent, and the antlerless-deer harvest declined 20 percent.

What’s with you hunters this year? Bambi and Thumper are out there in the woods laughing at you. It’s not like you’re running out of ammo. Put down the lap top computers and the Blackberries. Hide your iPhones and iPods. Stop shooting the empty beer cans and start shooting the deer.

Remember, the deer you shoot just might save the hood of my car.
