Scrima excluded from water negotiations
Milwaukee News Buzz (Milwaukee Magazine) thought I asked an interesting question in this week’s column for the Waukesha Freeman. “Who would want such an immature, erratic and irresponsible person in the room while the adults talk?”
The city of Waukesha’s Water Commission answered it.
The Commission voted 5 to 1 to name City Administrator Lori Luther and Waukesha Water Utility General Manager Dan Duchniak to the negotiating team, according to a report in Waukesha Patch tonight. Two additional members will be named later.
City of Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima demonstrated a childishness and pettiness unbecoming an elected official when he voted against Luther serving on the negotiating team.
According to the report from Waukesha Patch, Commission members made their views clear that Scrima would be unwelcome to serve as a negotiating team member. One commissioner even said Scrima would be the “weak link” that Milwaukee would take advantage of during the negotiations.
Of course the Commission made the right decision. Now it’s up to the city of Waukesha Common Council to follow through.
