State Senator Rich Zipperer to resign August 5th to join Walker Administration

A reliable source tells me that State Senator Rich Zipperer (R-Pewaukee) will announce today at noon that he is resigning effective August 5th to take a position with Governor Scott Walker’s administration.

State Representative Bill Kramer (R-Waukesha), who had previously considered running for that state senate seat when Ted Kanavas chose not to seek re-election, is not expected to run. Kramer has since taken on a leadership role in the Assembly as the Speaker Pro-Tem.

State Representative Paul Farrow (R-Pewaukee) is likely to run for the vacant state senate seat once held by his mother, former Lt Gov Margaret Farrow.

Given that it’s a relatively safe district for Republicans it would not be surprising to see other Republicans jump into the race.

Update! State Senator Rich Zipperer’s statement is now online (pdf).

Update 2!strong> State Representative Bill Kramer’s statement is now online.
