Sympathy for the devils
Before we rush to criticize local governments like the cities of Waukesha and Milwaukee for banning guns in city buildings, let’s try to put ourselves in their shoes. I think most of us would cringe at the thought of Miles Kristan, or any of his companions, having a concealed weapons permit. I’m sure if we knew about a few of the local locos we would cringe as well.
Actually, having dealt with some of the local locos in Waukesha, yeah, the thought of them having a gun at city hall makes me cringe.
I understand both sides of the debate, including the city employees who would like to be able to defend themselves. I’m not going to criticize those municipalities that decide to allow permitted concealed carry on the municipal premises, either.
For those that would try to make this a big issue I think they would be better served by a healthy dose of perspective.
(And as I predicted, the issue has been remarkably quiet in Waukesha.)
