I’m not a big fan of “reality” television. One of the things that really bother me is how people with huge scandals they’re trying to hide are so willing to risk exposing their darkest secrets just so they can be on television. I can’t imagine why the Duggar family decided they wanted to go on […]

Well, we all saw this coming. Democratic candidate for state attorney general Susan Happ once defended a child molester. While the case of an admitted child molester who used his wife’s Palymra, Wisconsin daycare to lure victims made state and regional news, the heinous crime of repeatedly molesting children between the ages of 3 and 6, […]

Milwaukee Alderman Jim Bohl is under investigation for allegedly using the power of his office to push a landlord into evicting a couple of sex offenders. The warrant indicates investigators were seeking evidence of misconduct in public office, and threats to injure or accuse of a crime. According to the search warrant affidavit, Bohl told […]

Everyone dislikes defense attorneys until they need one. However, Jennifer Dorow, Governor Scott Walker’s pick for the second branch of the Circuit Court of Waukesha County, has an interesting practice. She defends sexual predators of children. Our lawyers have an impressive track record: attorney Matthew Huppertz has argued hundreds of cases in front of Wisconsin’s […]

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting John Kalblinger is running in the recall election of Waukesha Alderman Peggy Bull. Kalbinger is off to a poor start by putting Frank Greuel on his campaign committee, although I guess that is to be expected. It will be interesting to see what Kalbinger proposes to do about the […]

Or how about this whopper: Scrima announced Tuesday night that he would work with the city attorney to prevent any more sex offenders from moving into the city.

I whispered to state Rep. Bill Kramer sitting in front of me, “Well, your job is done.”

If a mayor and the city attorney could stop sex offenders from moving into Waukesha, it would have happened by now. Cities are able to impose reasonable restrictions (as Waukesha has) but ultimately the state and the courts determine in which city the sex offender lives.

Scrima either doesn’t understand the issue, or he’s just trying to shamelessly pander again.

The Libertarian Party sinks to a new low: When members of the San Bernardino County Libertarian Party elected Matthew Barnes as the group’s vice chairman for 2010, they knew he was a registered sex offender. “The members of the party that voted for him, they voted for him knowing he had completed his time and […]

Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janine Geske, MULS Restorative Justice Initiative, and the Milwaukee Archdiocese completed a documentary, The Healing Circle, to help create greater understanding of clergy sex abuse and the victims. A few years ago, I started thinking about how the Catholic Church, as a community of people, really needed to look from […]

Good news for the sexual predators up the street. That is, I think they’re still up the street. Maybe. Anybody know where the sexual predators are? As part of his budget, Governor Doyle would reduce the monitoring for many sexual offenders from active real-time monitoring to passive after-the-fact monitoring. Instead of an alert being sent […]
