The next clerk will only screw up the unimportant elections
Keith Best of the Waukesha Republican Party told Sarah Millard that Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus will have an opponent in the Republican Primary:
Keith Best, who is in charge of public relations with the Republican Party of Waukesha County, said in a comment on Patch that not all area Republicans are happy with her performance.
“Nickolaus will be primaried,” Best wrote in the comment. “Once again the voters will decide.”
…if they have to beg every assistant town or village clerk in the county to run, he could have added.
The Waukesha County Democratic Party says they won’t fight the GAB report, but there is something they can do.
“We intend to run a candidate against her,” said Waukesha County Chairman Victor Weer.
…even if they have to buy more ads in the Waukesha Freeman to find a candidate, he could have added.
Meanwhile, not one Democratic official, local or otherwise, has publicly called for Democratic Party spokesman Graeme Zielinski and Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate to apologize for slandering Nickolaus in August. Until they do, they really do not have any moral standing to attack Nickolaus for her job performance. If I were someone thinking about running for clerk, I would seriously wonder what kind of backing the Democratic Party would give me the first time there’s a glitch and some Republican candidate benefitted. A lot of foaming-at-the-mouth types over there on the Democratic side, and they have party titles.
Democrats better be careful. They may make a sympathetic character out of Nickolaus, yet.
