The senatorial Wiggy poll, the victory party edition

3

It’s election day. You’ve hopefully made up your mind which candidate is getting your vote. But now comes the hard decision. Whose victory party do you go to?

Some of you novices are thinking, “That’s easy. Go to the party of the candidate for whom you voted.” It sounds logical, even noble, but it’s the wrong answer.

Picking a victory party depends on a variety of factors. Who else will be there? Who is going to win? How crowded will it be? Who is at the Country Springs Hotel? Are they likely to give away free beer? If the candidate spots you are you likely to be escorted to the door? What kind of appetizers will be served? Will they have a lot or do I have to show up early?

As a general rule of thumb, winning victory parties are much more fun than losing victory parties, but not always. Sometimes the winning victory parties get swamped by late-arriving suck-ups, many of whom timed it just right to see which candidate was going to win and then showing up just in time for the victory speech and to raid the cheese and crackers.

Then there was the Walker victory party at the Waukesha Expo Center, proof that winning isn’t everything when it comes to victory parties. If you tried waiting in line for a beer there, you might have a drinking problem. Yes, yes, it was historic and everyone who was anyone was there. But did you really need to see former Governor Tommy Thompson firing up a bunch of high school kids when a comfy chair and a cold beer awaited you at home?

Okay, the Tommy thing was kind of cool.

Nonetheless, you have a tough choice to make. But to help you I’m going to ask one more pre-election question of my readers. Whose victory party do you think will have the best appetizers?

Whose election night victory party will have the best snacks?

  • Eric Hovde (48%, 12 Votes)
  • Tommy Thompson (40%, 10 Votes)
  • Mark Neumann (16%, 4 Votes)
  • Jeff Fitzgerald (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 25
