The view from Planet Madison

From the Wisconsin State Journal:

Despite a year-old federal ruling allowing state judicial candidates to come out of the partisan closet, the candidates in Tuesday’s statewide judicial primary say they don’t plan to take advantage of their new freedom to join a political party.

Spokespeople for the state Republican and Democratic parties say they aren’t working on behalf of any judicial candidates this spring nor have they been asked to do so.

The candidates for the 4th District Court of Appeals are Edward Leineweber, the Richland County circuit judge; Brian Blanchard, Dane County’s district attorney; and Ramona Gonzalez, a La Crosse County circuit judge. (emphasis added)

Hey. If it includes Madison, then it’s statewide, no matter what the map says.
