UW-Milwaukee will serve jello instead of Palermo’s Pizza

The administration at UW-Milwaukee caved to a bunch of thugs by closing down the pizza restaurant that served Palermo’s Pizza. Instead of arresting the obnoxious protestors and expelling the students who were preventing the sale of pizza today, the Vice Chancellor announced that the pizza stand would be closed through summer.

Protesters on Tuesday put up a sign where Palermo’s Pizza is sold in the student union –some going behind the counter and not allowing anyone to get pizza.

The protest ended when a UWM official, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jim Hill made a verbal and written promise to shut down the Palermo’s Pizza stand through the end of summer.

The stand was shut down around 1:15 p.m.

Hill said that the Palermo’s Pizza counter would be closed for the remainder of the Spring ’13 semester, and the entire Summer ’13 semester, pending further dialogue with students.

Hill should be ashamed of himself for caving to these fascists. The National Labor Relations Board exonerated Palermo’s but that is not preventing the UW-Milwaukee Administration from behaving in a craven, cowardly fashion.

By the way, where the hell is Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett when an employer in his city needs defending from these tactics? Perhaps Palermo’s Pizza should move to Waukesha where they will be appreciated.
