Wasn’t it supposed to be an advantage to have Democrats running everything?
Are Governor Jim Doyle and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett feeling neglected yet by their old friend Barack Obama? You know, the guy they endorsed for president? The guy who was supposed to take care of his own the Chicago way? The guy who would remember his friends?
He remembers them about as well as Henry V remembered Jack Falstaff on taking the throne. (Henry IV part 2)
I know thee not, old man: fall to thy prayers;
How ill white hairs become a fool and jester!
I have long dream’d of such a kind of man,
So surfeit-swell’d, so old and so profane;
But, being awaked, I do despise my dream.
Make less thy body hence, and more thy grace;
Leave gormandizing; know the grave doth gape
For thee thrice wider than for other men.
Reply not to me with a fool-born jest:
Presume not that I am the thing I was;
For God doth know, so shall the world perceive,
That I have turn’d away my former self;
So will I those that kept me company.
First it was the Asian Carp invasion of the Great Lakes from Illinois. Then it was the double rebuke of Wisconsin in the “Race to the Top” process, even though Obama used a Madison school as a backdrop to announce the program. Now FEMA rejected the appeal for aid to Wisconsin homeowners after the recent flooding.
Thank you Mr. President, may I have another?
