Ya know, lots of people meet at Dennys

The supporters of former Governor Tommy Thompson are letting people know he is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, cross-your-heart-hope-to-die, really, really, really, serious about running for senate.

Tommy Thompson met with supporters Monday at the Madison Club to talk about a possible run for the U.S. Senate seat held by retiring Sen. Herb Kohl.

“They had a good meeting, about 50 people, and Tommy briefed them on his potential candidacy,” said James Klauser, co-chairman of Thompson’s advisory committee.

Klauser, a Thompson adviser who helped run his four gubernatorial races, said he expects the popular former governor to file the paperwork to authorize a U.S. Senate campaign committee in the next 10 days. “I think Tommy will be a candidate,” Klauser said.

I just love the location for this story. Is there any place more insider-sounding than The Madison Club? What? The Bohemian Grove was booked on Monday?
