Yard sign cop update

For those of you keeping track of the Scrima for Mayor yard sign drama, the Lovely Doreen from Waukesha heard from District Attorney Brad Schimel who is declining to issue charges in the matter after the campaign promised to correct the signs.

Dear Ms. Wigderson,

We have confirmed that there are numerous signs without disclaimers.

I also have now received a call from a representative of the Scrima campaign who has acknowledged that a mistake was made. I am informed that they are actively working on getting disclaimer stickers on the signs. Provided the campaign follows through with that response, I do not plan to issue a charge.

Thank you for alerting me to this issue.

Hypothetically speaking, if the Scrima campaign did not correct the signs, they could be looking at fines of up to $500 per sign not in compliance with state law. As much as I make light of the matter, you can see why campaigns scramble to get their signs corrected when this type of error happens.
