Gee, I wonder which senator that could be?

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, addressing CPAC, mentions in passing this story from a meeting of NBA owners,

A friend of mine attended a recent meeting of the NBA leadership, at which a small-market owner, whom I won’t name but will mention is also a member of the U.S. Senate, made an impassioned plea for more sharing of revenue by the more successful teams.  At a coffee break, Mr. Prokhorov, the new Russian owner of the New Jersey Nets, murmured to my friend, “We tried that, you know.  It doesn’t work.”

I seem to recall that this same member of the U.S. Senate, a very wealthy man, is also looking for public funds to renovate the arena where his basketball team plays, and also just loaned his campaign fund a million dollars. Perhaps it’s time to send Herb Kohl, and his basketball team, back to the private sector.
