RIP Robert Clark

The Associated Press is reporting director Robert Clark and his son were killed early this morning in a head-on collision with a drunk driver who was driving without a license. He was 67 years old. His son, Ariel Hanrath-Clark, was 22.

Clark was most famous for directing A Christmas Story, a humorous take on baby boomer nostalgia for a Christmas past. The film went from a modest box office success to a mainstay of the Christmas season.

Two pieces of trivia from IMDB:
“The Daisy Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Air Rifle had to be created specially for the film, because it never actually existed.”

“The “major award” was based on a real lamp: an illuminated Nehi logo.”

The movie is as brilliant as it is timeless. RIP Robert Clark.
