Late lunch at the Rochester Deli

My wife, the Lovely Doreen from Waukesha, and I had a very pleasant late lunch at the Rochester Deli in Waukesha yesterday. It was our first time and I’m sorry we waited so long.

I had the Daily Double.

The corned beef and pastrami sandwich was very good.  The meat was very tender and tasty. The coleslaw that came with the sandwich was not a soupy cream coleslaw but a vinaigrette coleslaw that I just love.

My wife had the corned beef sandwich and she said it was as good as the corned beef at McBob’s in Milwaukee. That’s pretty tough competition.

Both of us had the asparagus soup and, judging from this sample, we may be ordering frozen soups to take home in the future.

I took home a slice of the strawberry rhubarb pie that was much more strawberry than rhubarb. (My kingdom for a restaurant that sells a rhubarb pie that is actually a rhubarb pie.) My wife bought a lemon bar, and she definitely made the better choice.

Unfortunately the Rochester Deli takes orders online and they deliver. Could be dangerous.
