Life in the Wigderson family tree

3

Fun stuff. I found this photo at the Wisconsin Historical Society website.

McCarthy attacked 78 Madisonians as "dupes and dopes of the Communist Party" because of an anti-McCarthy petition they had signed.

“Senator Joseph R. McCarthy (second from the right), seated at the head table at a banquet meeting of the Dane County Young Republicans’ Club. Other people included in the photo L to R Miriam Wigderson, William Stern, chairman of the second district YGOP; Marian Fox, chairman of the Dane Co. Women’s Republican club; Sen. Joseph McCarthy, and Attorney Maurice Wigderson, chairman of the Dane Co. YGOP organization. McCarthy attacked 78 Madisonians as “dupes and dopes of the Communist Party” because of an anti-McCarthy petition they had signed. Curiously, on the following day, Owen Lattimore, who was one of the primary targets of McCarthy’s espionage attacks, was also in Madison to speak.”
