Mean Mr. Mustard Museum

I like yellow mustard on hot dogs. I like brown mustard on bratwurst. I like honey mustard on pretzels, although on large, soft pretzels sometimes I like yellow. I like Plochman’s Polish Mustard on sandwiches. I like mustard on hamburgers. I like mustard on corned beef. I even like being Colonel Mustard in Clue.

I do not like mustard on my tax dollars.

MADISON, Wis. — Dane County is issuing a $200,000 loan to the new National Mustard Museum in Middleton.

The money from Dane County Revolving Loan Fund will help with the expansion of the museum, which just moved into a newly renovated building in Middleton from its longtime home in Mount Horeb.

The Mustard Museum’s move to Middleton and subsequent expansion is expected to create eight more jobs than the museum had in Mount Horeb. The loan will be paid back over seven years at an interest rate of 5.25 percent, the county said in a news release.

The Mustard Museum is planning a grand opening in the spring to officially unveil its many additions.

Can you smoke mustard? Because they’re obviously smoking something in Dane County if they think subsidizing mustard museums is an appropriate role for government.
