New Day Fund board members asked January 10th for approval

Remember, the invoice for the guitars to the Business Improvement District was dated December 20th. Mayor Jeff Scrima signed the bottom of the invoice on behalf of the New Day Fund. He asked the board members for approval on January 10th. The purpose of flushing the funds through the BID was allegedly because the New Day Fund could not write a check directly to a private vendor, only to non-profits. I’ve removed the email addresses. – JW

Subject: Request for Recommendation to Fund Waukesha GuitarTown Project

Dear Tony, Rick, Gary and Kevin,

As the New Day in Waukesha Fund steering committee, I am requesting your recommendation to release $15, 160, from our account with the Waukesha County Community Foundation, to assist in the start-up of the Waukesha GuitarTown Project. Seeattached press release on the project, and the following link of other GuitarTown cities:

This request directly fits our funds purpose to promote the arts and gateways. This $15,160 will specifically be used to serve as a catalyst for the project and fund 7  10’ tall fiberglass guitar sculptures. In partnership, Gibson Guitar has agreed to pay for the 10 regular sized custom guitars and the remaining 3  10’ fiberglass guitars, valued at approximately $30,000, plus provide press and celebrities for the launch event.

Please email me at your earliest convenience whether you support this allocation, or call me if you have questions. Thank you

Jeff Scrima
