No room for conspiracy theorists

Erick Erickson at the popular blog Red State announced he is banning 9-11 conspiracy theorists, “Truthers,” and Obama birth certificate “Birthers,” from the website.

We’ve always banned truthers at RedState. Increasingly, we have also banned a number of individuals who think Barack Obama is disqualified from being President because despite the Republican Governor of Hawaii confirming the legitimacy of the Democratic President’s birth origin as a citizen of the United States these birthers (”birfers” because it sounds as crazy as they are) refuse to move on.

Today I want to reaffirm and make it more definitive. If you think 9/11 was an inside job or you really want to debate whether or not Barack Obama is an American citizen eligible to be President, RedState is not a place for you.

Birfers and Truthers are not welcome here. Period. End of Story.

Worth mentioning again, my disappointment that another group of conspiracy theorists, the John Birch Society, managed to become co-sponsors of CPAC 2010.

Yes, it’s unfair that left-wing conspiracy theorists often get a pass in the media and are mostly tolerated within left-wing political movements, while anytime conspiracy theorists attach themselves to any event or organization on the right they are immediately granted the spotlight. All the more reason for the political right to ostracize the wackos in our midst while we criticize the wackos on the other side.

It’s also worth reminding my readers this site’s policy on conspiracy theorists:

I have no tolerance for conspiracy theories. On this site, consider the following as given: Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, the government in any or all of its entities did not destroy the World Trade Centers, Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, Lee Harvey Oswald killed Kennedy and did it by himself. The Federal Reserve is not out to rule the world, neither are the Illuminati, the Tri-Lateral Commission, or the Pope. President Clinton did not run a secret drug-running operation in Arkansas and Vince Foster committed suicide. The Protocols of Zion are fake. Jews are not trying to control the world. FDR did not know the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor and neither did Winston Churchill. Joe Biden really is that stupid. Don’t bother arguing with me. As a neoconservative I attended all of the conspiracy meetings so I know the truth.
