Terrorism in Boston
Like most of you, we’re following the bombing of the Boston Marathon with intense interest. We know at least two people were killed, including an eight-year-old child. We know over 90 people were injured.
We may have been fortunate that the attack occurred where it did. As the news media has been reporting there were quite a few medical personnel and supplies already at the scene because of the requirements of the marathon.
At this point, we do not know who did it or why. Unfortunately there will be plenty of speculation about the identity and possible motives of those responsible. It’s completely irresponsible to do it, but some people can’t help trying to push their political agendas regardless. Sadly, the wacko conspiracy theories have even started.
If we were to speculate based upon some anniversary or significance of the date, we certainly have plenty to draw from:
It’s tax day
Patriot Day in Boston
Bombing of Libya
Battle at Adrianople: Bulgaria beats Emp Boudouin of Constantinople
Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier
The sinking of the Titanic
1st Jewish-Arab military battle, Arabs defeated (1948)
Ray Kroc starts McDonald’s chain of fast food restaurants
Black Friday- Labour Party strike of mine workers fails (1921)
Birthday of Kim II Sung, 1st Leader of North Korea
Five murderers, of Egyptian President Sadat, executed (1982)
Take your pick, although it’s likely that today was a target of convenience. We should trust that the government will know soon enough.
