The stupid proclamation crowd
I see city of Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima has joined the stupid proclamation crowd. From today’s Waukesha Freeman:
Scrima declares Jan. 12 Remember Haiti Day
WAUKESHA – Mayor Jeff Scrima declared Jan. 12 as Remember Haiti Day.
According to the proclamation document, which was signed Jan. 6 but not released until its inclusion in Friday’s media packet, Jan. 12 was the two-year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti, and there remains much to be done.
“Whereas the people of Haiti are still suffering from insufficient food and poor water quality, and whereas 700,000 people are still living in tents and whereas more than 6,000 teenagers have one or more amputations, whereas the city of Waukesha share deep concerns about these issues, now therefore I, Mayor Jeff Scrima, do hereby proclaim Jan. 12, 2012 Remember Haiti Day,” the document states.
I’m sure the people Haiti will be thrilled that the mayor remembered them well enough to mention them in his Friday media packet, for all the good it will do them.
I’m looking forward to Scrima’s other proclamations on nuclear proliferation, Antarctic exploration, the preservation of the Giant Panda habitat, and time travel.
Seriously, this is the type of feel-good, do-nothing crap we expect out of Madison, not Waukesha’s city hall.
